A designer chair makes you look good even when your napping

An excellent designer chair like Vitra's Ypsilon, was created not just to look awesome and turn people green with envy but also to possibly change the way we work.  Mario Bellini's other office chairs for Vitra have been moving in the direction of informalizing the workplace. Now other designer chairs, like the Aeron, are moving along that trend as well.

When you look at the Ypsilon it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. But don't let the high tech looks fool you. This office chair is all business. The lower part of the backrest contains a gel like material that cushions and reduces heat buildup in the lumber area. This gel like material glows green from the light striking it.  It even "remembers" your profile after you get up from the chair and return a short time later. But the biggest coolness factor of this office chair is the slouch factor. In fact you could sleep in this chair and still look real good in it.

You'll also want to check out the offerings from other designer brands like the Leap chair and Think chair from Steelcase. These chairs may not have the space age look of a Ypsilon but they have the ergonomics and features to put them in the top of their class.

Of course no discussion of designer chairs would be complete without mentioning the Herman Miller Aeron chair. This mesh fabric chair would still look and feel good 20 years from now in any office big or small.
