You don't need to spend a lot to have comfortable conference room chairs

Conference room chairs need to be comfortable. However, beyond comfort the kind of conference room chair you need depends on the importance of the conference room and the length of time people remained seated. If, for example,  you're furnishing an executive conference room where many senior level meetings normally take place you would want a chair that conveys the ambience and importance of that conference room. Most likely you would want to go with high backed leather ergonomic office chairs on casters with features such as pneumatic up and down adjustment, tilt and adjustable arm rests.

On the other hand if the conference room is used infrequently or when wanting to convey a lesser image then consider conservatively styled but comfortable low backed chairs that come with less features. Most conferences only last one to two hours on average. With this in mind the following are a few suggestions to consider when deciding on conference chairs:

  • Are arm rests and other extras such as adjustable lumbar support really needed? Basic up and down height adjustment is ok. Swivel capable chairs are an excellent choice. Much more than that is probably overkill unless its the executive boardroom.
  • Select chairs that match the decor of the room as closely as possible.
  • Choose chairs with a 5 point pedestal base for easy mobility and stability. Easy mobility is important if office chairs need to be moved from one conference room to another.
