An adjustable office chair or ergonomic chair can save your back and neck!
Its no longer a secret that a highly adjustable office chair can actually help you sit more comfortably while reducing or eliminating back and neck pain and lead to greater productivity. How often have you found yourself trying to find an adjustment for either the back or seat only to find that a specific adjustment didn't exist. Or, if there was an adjustment it just isn't adequate.
A good ergonomic office chair should have at least these basic but critical adjustments:
- Built in adjustable support for the lumbar (lower back).
- Pneumatic adjustment to allow the seat to raise or lower. This is a critical adjustment that any good office chair will have.
- If you need armrests make sure they're adjustable.
- Seat back height and pitch (tilt) adjustment. You may also want the optional ability to lock the seat back in an upright position if that's important to you. Some of the higher end chairs will have seat back tensional adjustments that will allow the seat back to tilt to a comfortable position automatically as you lean back into the chair.
- A 5 legged base with casters for easy mobility. Most ergonomic chairs will already have this.
There are a number of name brands such as Steelcase and Samsonite that have adjustable ergonomic chairs to suit almost any need. Take your time to browse around and explore. We're sure you'll find what you're looking for!
