A kneeling ergonomic chair offers a seating arrangement that eliminates inherent sitting problems
When we assume a normal sitting posture our thighs are at a 90 degree angle to our backs. This is often referred to as "right-angle" sitting. As many of us will agree there are many problems associated with a normal sitting posture, such as back pains. Over the years ergonomic office chairs and orthopedic chairs have eliminated many but not all problems associated with a normal sitting posture. During the 1980s' a new kind of ergonomic chair was developed that presented a different seating posture. This chair became known as a kneeling ergonomic chair.
Kneeling ergonomic chairs invoke a neutral seating position. A neutral position means the individual is postured halfway between sitting and standing. Amazingly this orthopedic posture virtually eliminates the critical stress points on our body, such as the lower lumber region, found with normal sitting.
There are different variations of kneeling chairs but they all have two things in common and that is they look strange compared to most ergonomic office chairs but they relieve the stresses on the body normally associated with sitting. In many cases a kneeling chair is used as an alternative when no other chair can provide relief.
Take the time to consider an ergonomic kneeling chair as a viable alternative or as an addition to a regular ergonomic task or office chair.
