If you slouch an ergonomic ball chair may be just what the doctor ordered to help straighten your spine!
Do you slouch while sitting? We all slouch a little every now and then and it's
natural to do so. But what's not natural is the strain it places on our backs.
Slouching is bad posture and bad posture leads to back problems. That's where
ergonomic ball chairs can help. A ball chair helps correct bad posture
by encouraging proper alignment of the spine in the back.
It's true that a good
ergonomic office chair can provide excellent comfort
and proper support for the back. However, it doesn't really train and exercise the muscles in
your back to help maintain correct body posture. An ergonomic ball chair can
help strengthen back muscles by actively forcing them into maintaining proper
spine alignment. By actively engaging our back muscles it forces us to use them
and when you use a muscle it begins to tone up and become stronger.
Another advantage of a ball chair to consider is that it allows you to move
freely in any direction since your upper body is not being blocked by a chair
back or armrests. Even those who exercise regularly may not perform exercises
that target the back muscles used in maintaining an ergonomically correct
posture.
Sitting on a ball chair may take some getting use to at first. It may even
feel a little weird or unnatural. That's normal and expected. And at least in
the beginning you might look
a little odd sitting on a rather large ball. But if you feel you're not getting
the relief you should from a conventional office chair then being a little
unconventional may be just what you need and that's where an ergonomic ball
chair may help.
